If you like adventure then look no further, Hillside Brewery is located on the edge of the Royal Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley with the biggest selection of indoor and outdoor activities you could wish for.
What’s in the Royal Forest of Dean?
We have been here since 2013 and are still finding awesome things to see and do right on our doorstep but we will tell you about a few of our favourites. They are famous for their downhill and mountain biking. A great place to start is Pedalabikeaway – you can rent a range of bikes depending on your ability and they have tracks to set straight out onto. Whether it’s the family trail or the advanced routes – you will love it.
Like the water then why not try a great day out kayaking with Way2GoAdventure. Seeing the beautiful Forest of Dean from the river gives you a different perspective of this wonderful scenery. You can have a relaxed paddle down the river or find the rapids to tackle.
Fancy something different then Inspire 2 Adventure offer a gorge scrambling experience. Scramble over rocks, climb and navigate the different waterfalls to conquer your fears and have some fun.
What can we do at Hillside Brewery?
We have a range of activities and on-site experiences which can be combined to create an awesome event. As you have probably guessed being on our website – we are a brewery so the best place to start may be with one of our brewery tours. On a brewery tour we look at all of the ingredients used to make a beer, we then walk around the brewery to see how the ingredients relate to the brewing process and look in our bottling room to see how they are all individually bottled – all while tasting 4 of our classic beers.
If you want more of a detailed and hands on experience, we have a brewing experience day – where you take part in all stages of the process. With our Head Brewer you learn how to brew a fantastic beer, have breakfast, lunch, beer tasting session, a how-to guide to brewing and a couple of beers to take home too.
What activities do you have on site?
If you want more of an adrenaline filled activity we have 2 experiences which you will love. Firstly, Archery Tag is like a combination of paintballing and dodgeball – but you don’t end up going home covered in bruises as the arrows have big foam tips on. All the adrenaline and fun but without the pain, ideal for people over 12 years old and groups of 8 or more. We also have Bubble Football, which is where you are in a big zorb (inflatable ball) and you play football. It is highly entertaining and more challenging than normal football as you can bump into each other to knock them off the ball. For both of these activities there are a range of different games to play to keep you entertained and challenged throughout the session.
Is there a more relaxed activity?
We appreciate that not everyone wants to be running around, firing arrows at each other or playing football so we also have a more relaxed option. How does beer pilates sound? You’re probably thinking what that is… It’s an hour long pilates session with a qualified instructor, while incorporating a beer into the moves – if you need a break, simply take a seat and take a sip of your beer until you are ready to go again.
How far away are they? How long will it take me to get there?
